Book Club, with action coach. Mark Dilks

Recently I meet Mark Dilks and he invited me to his book club in Olney.

As an action coach, Mark runs a range of coaching workshops and these book clubs. The clubs are a selection of different companies that he works with on a monthly basis. Each month they are invited to a set book club and given a business-themed book to study and review for the following book meeting.

This is the book given to the book club for the month of February.

The book

Have you read it before?

Did you find it interesting?

What did you learn from this book?

Please add your answers or comments below.

Information on this book

This book refers to 7 habits that you could change your viewpoint on life and your behaviour. Although this book seems to be aimed at business people, I think that other people who have other careers would benefit from reading this and understanding how to be proactive and empathic listeners.

Watch this animated video that explains the 7 habits explained in this set book.

Here is a visual to identify the 7 habits to keep to, this could make you happier and possibly a better person. Please remember this blog is my own interpretation and opinion on the key habits stated in the book. So take the time to read it yourself and form your own viewpoint.

From attending this book club and reading this book, I have decided that I could work on being more proactive. With the saying, “Don't put off until tomorrow what you can do today.” I also feel that I should plan and review at the end of each day. I currently plan and review once a week, which I will continue with. Although, I do feel that reviewing at the end of the day will end my working day and make me release what I still need to work on for the next. This has also encouraged me to journal more. I do need to complete my 90-day plan from my last session with Mark and consider where I want to be. I have also since this meeting joined a co-working space in Northampton to help to be seen and find new people to work with for the future.

Book Club

Okay so the idea behind the action coach book club, is to provide each member with a relevant business book to help each member learn more about ways to improve their business approach. At each meeting, Mark arranges food, networking time with the other members, and a private Facebook group, so members can discuss further on what they have learnt. This is also a way for Mark to communicate to his set group members about up-and-coming events.

Mark himself is proactive in his own business, day-to-day life tasks and progressing further in his own business journey. The group dynamic is friendly and open and all attendees have built up some lovely friendships. Mark offers support throughout as he explains key aspects of each book per book club meeting.

Here’s a quick video clip of the book club in action in Milton Keynes

Mark offers two book clubs, one in Olney and the other in Milton Keynes. If you would be interested in attending, it’s an informal meeting group and your opinions and thoughts are welcomed throughout.

Mark is also supported by Mark Miller who has been in business for a few years and is really very supportive and open to giving advice and listening.

For the month of March, we have been given this book to read and review. This time Mark has not read the book before so it will be interesting to see his new opinion as well as all of the other group members.

This is the latest book

So I have the next month to read this book and write up my own book review.

Have you read this book?

What were you thoughts on this book?

I have spoken to Ricky O’Donnell CEO & Founder RJDM Studios | #SuccessLeavesClues | Entrepreneur

This was his opinion and how this book influenced him.

‘Rich dad poor dad that was the first ever business book I read 18 years ago….. It’s awesome reminds me of when I was a boy’

‘I used to sell perfume, wash cars do gardens and have been working since 11 some of the things he did and questions he asked for especially in the factory are the same I asked

Except it wasn’t my friends dad it was just various bosses I just didn’t do the property thing wish I did’

I think once I have read the book, what Ricky has said will make more sense.

Watch this space for next month’s blog on this book and please add comments and let me know your thoughts on either of the books. Or consider attending the book club with Mark Dilks, information can be sent to you.

Hope to see you on one of the days.
