National Spaghetti Day

This food day is celebrated in America every year on the 4th of January.

Information about this day - “If you’re nuts for pasta, don’t miss the chance to cook it in the Italian way on National Spaghetti Day. The first pasta was produced in Southern Italy around the 12th century. In the 19th century, it became very popular all over Italy after lots of pasta factories were established and its products came into the mass market. Italian pasta appeared in the USA at the end of the 19th century.

It was served in different restaurants as Spaghetti Italienne. Most likely this dish consisted of noodles cooked past al dente with tomato sauce and some seasoning like bay leaves, cloves, and garlic. Only decades later oregano and basil became commonly used for cooking spaghetti. There are different ways to cook spaghetti.

You can add some tomato sauce and cheese to enrich the taste of your dish, but the most popular among Americans dish is spaghetti with meatballs. Spaghetti carbonara is a favourite dish in Italy and it takes more time and practice to cook it, but the payoff is worth it.”

Photoshoot Plan

Being a food photographer I like to plan each shoot, look at what’s already been done and create my own.

I like to consider the theme of the drink or food item.

Here is my plan for how I wish to take a photograph of spaghetti. I have two ideas on how to portray the food item. As I could take a photo in its basic form, while raw.

The two images above are simple and minimalistic which is what I like and another way to take photos of this food product is when it is cooked. Below are two examples of cooked pasta.

I also want to consider including other ingredients, with the minimalistic style to develop or show this form of pasta, see these images below.

  • So from looking at all of these images, I will take both raw and cooked pasta photographs.

  • My plan is to some raw, cooked and use utensils with the food type on a dark background.

  • All images will be taken with a black background and dark-coloured props to help the pasta stand out and capture the smoke from the hot pasta.

  • I will include some garnish extras.
