From reading many books on food photography and learning editing techniques from the website: https://thebiteshot.com/
I have learned how to ensure all images have the correct white balance, the flash equipment to use, and purchase more reflectors.
In this book - Food Photography: A Beginner’s Guide to Creating Appetizing Images by Corinna Gissemann (Author). I have made white and black reflectors to use with natural or artificial lighting. I have also collected a selection of wooden tabletops and floor tiling to use as backgrounds or surfaces.
The other day, I painted two wooden backgrounds, one white and another pale yellow. This is so I can shoot and edit fresher and brighter photographs.
I have now created an area/space to set up as a studio space to shoot any further still life or food photography.
So my reason for posting this blog is to show others my process for setting up a still life or food studio.
Being a photographer for the past 9 or 10 years I have learnt that still life or food photography images are lit with these three types of lighting: continuous, studio or natural. So when planning your own, you will need to consider which lighting source you wish to use. This will help you decide where to set up your studio.
Today I purchased a plain white Ikea table to help me take both food & still life photographs. I have a wonderful natural light source and can also use artificial lighting.
Please take a look at the process I have taken and decide if this is something you wish to do.
Here are some examples of the final edited images from this shoot.
